Young and Old in Time

When your young your always busy
Working on your plans
Or time to go out dancing
with no time in which to stand

When your young the worlds your oyster
And there is so much to get done
And you haven’t got a moment
to call the folks back home

So if they criticise you
for you wont make the time
to spare a few moments
precious on their line

Its not that their complaining
its just that they have more time than you
they have more time upon their hands
for thinking just bout you

Don’t you know that you are precious?
a treasure that they share
worth far more than gold or diamonds
You are all they love and care

But in your mind your flying
your rocket to the stars
and every precious second
is a second thats too far

To spend on incidentals
like taking time to share
your love with those that raised you
and who always will be there

and boy do they annoy you
wont they leave you just alone
you’ve left the nest and flown
and your out there on your own

I my son was once like you
i was my fathers son
and he was quite like me
the father I’ve become

and I dear son remember
the times I didn’t make that call
and now I’m lost without him
with lost time to recall

My regret reminds me
I should have used some precious time
to tell him that i loved him
by phoning time to time

and that my sons the lesson
I’m trying to get through to you
Don’t be like me,same mistakes as me
Take the time to learn the precious lesson too
